About
Professional breadth, developing technical depth. That is the short version. The longer one follows.
Eleven years at the City of Westminster
I joined the City of Westminster in 2013 as a management intern and stayed 11 years, finishing as Lead Software Engineer. For most of that time I was a full-stack developer on a small team where each of us owned our applications from start to finish: requirements, design, development, deployment, troubleshooting, and support. There was little formal training time, so I became good at learning whatever a project needed and delivering a working solution.
Some of the work I am proudest of:
- I rewrote the City’s online sales tax filing and payment application for local businesses, replacing a legacy VBScript app with ASP.NET Web Forms and building an API that connected it to the City’s Rocket UniVerse database through a vendor REST interface. I also strengthened the flat-file data exchange with the City’s bank, which had no API, and supported the application in production.
- I rewrote the public sign-up app for the City’s Santa visit program. After studying how the firefighters actually ran it, I proposed and built a full admin back end that replaced spreadsheets and manual reminder calls with a random lottery, status notifications, and automated reminders. When the program later moved to time-slot sign-ups, I reworked the whole app.
- During COVID, after the sales tax system’s original developer had left the City, I worked through 40 years of Pick code to piece together the sales tax data the CFO urgently needed.
I also maintained the systems behind the City’s public website and intranet, including its DotNetNuke content management system, and served as the technical liaison among departments, vendors, and IT.
Leading the team
In March 2023 I became Lead Software Engineer for a team of four developers. I helped modernize how we worked by implementing Azure DevOps and moving the team from individual application ownership toward collaborative development. I directed our technology transition toward a .NET Web API backend and a Vue.js front end, and I managed hiring, mentoring, priorities, and stakeholder communication through a period of significant staffing constraints.
That role taught me something about myself. Most of my time had shifted to hiring, meetings, requirements, and technical direction, and I missed building.

A planned break, and coming back
I left the City in September 2024 and took a planned career break through the end of 2025. In January 2026 I returned to hands-on development on my own projects. I built custom Pine Script indicators that I use live in my own futures trading, and a C# integration that connects TradingView webhook alerts to NinjaTrader 8 for automated trade execution, which meant working with REST endpoints, asynchronous processing, and error handling. This site is the newest of those projects.
Along the way I started working with AI coding tools, Claude Code and Codex, as development partners for implementation, debugging, research, and learning. I use them every day, and I remain responsible for understanding, testing, and validating everything they help me build. I am especially interested in teams that treat AI-assisted development as a normal part of how they work.
Why a junior role
I am deliberately looking for a hands-on Software Engineer I or junior developer role on an established, collaborative team. I want to spend my days building software, and I want to deepen my foundation in modern engineering practices and .NET development alongside other developers, with real code review and room for focused work.
What I bring is different from a typical junior candidate. I have gathered requirements directly from the people who use the software, owned applications in production for years, worked with vendors and other departments, and made technical decisions under real constraints. I know how to figure things out. What I am looking for now is a team to do that with.

Outside of work
I love camping and spend much of my free time outdoors.
